Anthony Bourque

Director of Research and Social Innovation

Anthony is new to Skills but comes from a diverse background which has always been rooted in helping people. He graduated from the University of Alberta (U of A) with a Kinesiology degree, where he found a passion for unstructured play, which has taken him to South-East Asia as a student and leader for the U of A’s Play Around the World program. Anthony continued to explore play in his graduate studies and soon began working full-time in a social innovation lab in Calgary, AB to explore the relationship between unstructured play and community health.

Though he still lives in Southern Alberta, the opportunity to support and learn from Skills Society wasn’t an opportunity Anthony could pass up. Anthony attended the CaNeo Labs conference in Quebec this past fall alongside Paige Reeves and Rebecca Rubliak and was inspired by the complex work they tackled at the Action Lab.

Anthony hopes to lead with the same commitment to compassion and curiosity that Skills have come to expect from the Innovation team and toss in a bit of extra playfulness where he can. If you ever want to talk about ramen or coffee, stop by and say hi!
