Skills Society Summer Picnic 2024: A Day of Fun and Connection
On August 7th, the Skills Society community gathered at Laurier Park for our much-anticipated annual summer picnic. Despite a bit of thunder throughout the day, the skies remained clear for us to enjoy a perfect summer afternoon. The park was alive with laughter and conversation as people we serve, staff, board members, and their families came together to celebrate the season and each other.
The day was filled with joy and excitement, starting with a delicious BBQ lunch that brought everyone together. Attendees had the chance to enhance their picnic experience with glitter temporary tattoos, adding a touch of sparkle to the festivities. We were also treated to live music performances by talented members of our community, making the atmosphere even more vibrant.
One of the highlights of the picnic was the raffle, where lucky winners took home some fantastic prizes. The CommuniTEA Van, always a hit, was bustling with activity as people made their own buttons and enjoyed a variety of games and cold drinks.
Events like these are only possible thanks to the dedication and support of many individuals. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to:
ATCO for their generous donation of canopies that kept us comfortable throughout the day.
CommuniTEA Van for their wonderful community-building activities and fun button-making station.
DJ Dave who kept the atmosphere lively with rocking tunes.
Good Earth Cafe for the generous donation of doorprizes.
Our incredible hosts and volunteers who worked tirelessly to organize, set up, and ensure the event ran smoothly.
A huge thank you to all the people we serve, employees, and guests who joined us and contributed to making this picnic a memorable one. Your participation and enthusiasm are what make these gatherings so special. We can't wait to see everyone again at next year's picnic!
