Miranda Kimber
Manager of Operations and Special Projects
Miranda is drawn to work that is grounded in equity, inclusion, and community. This led her to Skills Society where she brings her background and skills from primarily academic environments. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a Kinesiology degree, majoring in Adapted Physical Activity. From there, she pursued her master’s degree which explored physical activity during pregnancy among people with disabilities. During her time in graduate school, she loved co-creating and coordinating research studies, particularly equity-oriented projects. In her new role as Operations Coordinator at Skills, she applies the organizational and collaborative skills she acquired during this time.
Miranda adopts a strengths-based leadership style that is anchored in kindness and inclusion. She strives to make people feel welcomed and supported across all the areas of work she serves at Skills. She is grateful to have learned from leaders with deep knowledge of intersectionality and disability justice that have been transformative in her approach to stewardship. Miranda is thrilled to be working with a company that emphasizes person-centered practices and systemic approaches.
Miranda enjoys a mix of both individual and community activities. She enjoys fitness, gardening, baking bread, and watching her dogs Cabo, Sipas, and Lucy frolic at the dog park.
