Director of Community Supports & and Direct Operations

Heather is an authentic and passionate team player that envisions a world where all people are valued citizens. She is a leader who strives to inspire others and be inspired by those around her. Her values are rooted in “why” we do the work we do and how we can positively impact and support those we serve. 

Heather started her career here at Skills as a community support worker 23 years ago. Her experience working directly with people with disabilities, combined with a bachelor of education with a special education focus, are complimented by the perspective of having a family member with a disability. This has provided the foundation on which her leadership style was developed.

Throughout her 13 years in various senior leadership roles, Heather has been driven by creativity, collaboration, and community. She strongly believes in the power of partnerships and is skilled at identifying and leveraging opportunities to align with other organizations to reach shared goals and make a difference in the community. 

Heather actively seeks to foster a positive and connected organizational culture where teams and individuals are supported to find, build and share their strengths. She understands that people shine brightest when there are efficient systems in place to support them. She is passionate about quality improvement and uses an analytical and strategic approach to ensure resources are used effectively to maximize the impact for people accessing services.
