AstraZeneca vaccine eligibility drops to age 40

Starting tomorrow, April 20th, 2021, Albertans born 1981 or earlier (aged 40 or over) will be eligible to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine. Appointments will be available through participating pharmacies provincewide, and walk-in vaccinations will be available at the walk-in clinic in Edmonton and specific Edmonton pharmacy locations. People with serious chronic health conditions may want to consult their doctor first. For more information on the announcement from the Government of Alberta click here

Phase 2B (Started March 30th)

Albertans born in 2005 or earlier with eligible underlying health conditions are eligible to book. There are 3 ways to book a vaccination appointment:

For more information and to view the list of eligible underlying health conditions in Phase 2B visit the Alberta Government website by clicking here

Phase 2C (Started April 12th)

Eligible health care workers are currently able to book as part of Phase 2C of Alberta’s vaccine rollout. In the coming weeks, other groups in Phase 2C will become eligible which includes Skills Society employees. During Phase 2C, support staff at eligible work settings such as Skills Society may be asked to confirm their eligibility to receive the vaccine by providing proof of employment (available through the Company Documents section in Avanti - see Skills Society April 13th memo for more information).

We encourage people we support and employees who are eligible to book an appointment; family members and guardians of the people we support who are eligible are also encouraged to reach out to their loved one to book an appointment. Ensure doctors are consulted where appropriate and whether physicians recommend a person served by Skills Society receive a vaccine. To date, 68% of the people we support who have consented to receive COVID-19 immunization have received at least one dose.

Please, do not wait to receive notification from Skills Society to book an appointment. If you receive supports through Skills Society or are a Skills Society employee, and are eligible now based on Alberta’s vaccine rollout, we strongly encourage you to book an appointment. For for information about Alberta’s COVID-19 vaccine program and eligibility visit https://www.alberta.ca/covid19-vaccine.aspx
