Kate Gunn

Vice Chairperson

My name is Kate. I love getting outside in Edmonton in winter to ski or skate -  or just to enjoy a winter patio!  My love of winter began many years ago when I lived at the Arctic Circle in northern Finland for a year.

I am very interested in social innovation and the design of places, policies and programs that put people at the centre. In fact, that's how I connected with Skills in the first place in 2016 when its amazing Action Lab opened in our city.

I believe Skills is a leader in this area of human centred design. I think Skills’ outstanding work on The Future of Home for example is very exciting, as it explores and tests how to build an innovative, inclusive model of housing for and with people with developmental disabilities. In all it does, I believe Skills shapes new solutions by working with partners and remembering to centre the insights and input of those with lived experience.

Serving on the Skills Board is a way for me to be part of this important work. I am honoured to support an organization dedicated to new ways of working and committed to building a community where everyone belongs.
