I’ve been a member of the Skills Society board for the past 7 years and each board meeting is an opportunity to interact with a kindred crew of folks who place a high value on learning in an environment where sharing ideas and perspectives if cherished.
It’s an uplifting place. A place where contributing time, energy, and ideas are welcomed into the constant mix of perspectives needed to make life better for people with developmental disabilities in our communities.
It’s an energizing experience. At every turn I’m presented with an opportunity to learn something new; from the human-centered approach to problem solving in the Action Lab to the boots-on-the-ground application of solutions like the CommnuniTEA Infusion mobile tea house.
Most importantly, it’s a fun welcoming place. Not matter how harrowing things can become, people at Skills Society always make time to smile.
